TomMacTom

Thomas MacThomas aka TomMacTom has been involved in electronic music since the age of 13 when he bought his first turntables and started listening to trip-hop. As he grew up he ventured through the grungy depths of metal, to then move into breaks and more synthesised types of music. This led him to a good few years playing UK hard trance and hard house around Edinburgh, which then slowly matured into tech-trance and then down into harder techno. The eclectic distribution of beats found in some classic Harthouse techno tracks slowly pushed him into a more minimal vein, listening and admiring artists such as Boris Brejcha, PRT Stacho and Valentino Kanzyani. This love of disparate melody and rasping percussion pushed him into artists such as Luciano and the emerging Cadenza family. Time spent playing in Spain and Gibraltar allowed him to experiment with different sounds to his native London, and he started to introduce North African and arabesque hooks. This led him to be invited to compete in the Movida Corona Marrakech DJ competition which he duly won. After being crowned 'Best DJ in Marrakech' in 2011 he went on to be invited to play all over Morocco before returning to London in 2012. Now back in London he's had the humbling opportunity to support such luminaries as Orbital, whilst developing his sound and playing Secret Garden Party 2013.
