The Gaspar Sena Band

Led by drummer Gaspar Sena, and joined by Joe Webb on piano, Harry Sankey on guitar and Henry Gilbert on double-bass, this group is a tribute to the classic jazz repertoire but with a different approach. A project put together to take their favourite bits of jazz from the 1950s and 1960s and bring it into the 21st century. Not only do they perform the much loved classics, but also the music from behind the scenes, in the clubs and bars of New Orleans, Chicago and New York. Influenced by Wes Montgomery, Oscar Peterson, Illinois Jacquet, Louis Armstrong and many more, the band capture the sound, sensation, and groove of the era with their own unique interpretation.

While the quartet remains at the foundation of this project, they often perform as a trio as well as frequently inviting other highly talented musicians to join them on stage - most notably the fantastic singer Vimala Rowe with whom they share residencies at Bar Nightjar and newly opened The Oriole.

Their recent exploits include performances at Bristol Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival and many public events across the South East of England.
